Enigmatic and serene,
Having played their part here,
They fade away and die right in front our eyes
Our beloved, beloved parents.
Lord, call them back
For they already had a harsh live
And make them young as they once were
Make them younger than we are.
For those who gave life to us
Give an order, do something
To gain time for them,
To make them start all over again
They have paid with their life
For their sons’ mistakes,
Lord, grant immortality
To the mortal parents.
Behold them as they’re passing away,
Behold them as they’re fading away
Candles in a cuckoo’s nest,
They seem to be quiet, they seem to be burning out.
Badly sick and suffering
We return to dust,
As long as we’re alive, as long as they’re alive
Bring solace to your parents.
The earth is getting heavier,
The departure is even harder,
Farewell, my father!
Farewell, my mother!
But why are you looking at me like that?
My daughter and my son,
I am the one whose turn is next,
Dearly beloved, I have to leave you as well.
Farewell, my father,
Farewell, my mother,
So long, my boy,
So long, my little girl,
My father, my boy,
My mother, my little girl!
